Originating from questions raised by members of the MMP community in the early Fall of 2022, MMP decided to use our annual, day-and-a-half Spring Conference as a platform for introducing the topic of evil and how we meet it. We feel overpowered, clueless about how to confront it. Even our cherished institutions - church and country - seem curiously disarmed in the face of it. The world is in a critical time of need and we felt it important to make this information available to a wider audience now. This course explores: What is a useful, contemporary understanding of evil? How can we effectively deal with evil, both individually and culturally? More importantly, how do we move out of understanding evil into enlightened action? Cynthia draws from spiritual and psychological sources, and offers spiritual practices that strengthen our inner resources. Supplemental reading and other resources are listed in the final "segment" of the course, following the recordings. Cynthia Bourgeault is a modern-day mystic, Episcopal priest, writer, and internationally known retreat leader. She is the author of numerous books, the founding Director of both The Contemplative Society and the Aspen Wisdom School, and national and global teaching on the recovery of the Christian contemplative and wisdom path.
